Dessert contest with kakis from the Ribera del Xúquer

This year marks the 10th anniversary of the Valencia “putxero” and desserts contest using kakis from the Ribera del Xúquer, being held in the town of l’Alcúdia. Last October 15, chefs from across the Valencian region participated in this traditional contest. The participating restaurants this year were Casa Granero y Chaparral, from Serra; El Racó, from Meliana; Gambrinus, from Siete Aguas; Juan Veintitrés, from Benifaió; L’Albereda and Rong Hua from Valencia; L’Alfàbega, from Alginet; La Granja, Llopis and La Fi de la Fam, from Sueca; La Mar Salà and Picanterra, from Cullera; Miguel i Juani, from l’Alcúdia; Nazaret, from La Playa de Puçol; Tabick, from Llombai; Emi, from Orxeta; La Seu and Hotel Les Rotes, from Dénia; and Avenida 2.0, from Massamagrell. The first prize for this event went to the restaurant Picanterra in Cullera, while Bon Aire del Palmar came second, and Gambrinus from Siete Aguas came in third place.
